Charles was really enjoying his new position as a greeter at Wal Mart. He was a hard worker, always clean-shaven, and had a sharp mind. The recent retiree only had one problem: he couldn’t seem to get to work on time. Every single day he strolled in 5 or 10 minutes late.
One day the store manager called Charles into his office for a pep talk. “Charles, I have to tell you, I like your work ethic. You do a great job, but your tardiness is quite bothersome.”
“I’ll work on it, boss,” promised the elderly man.
“Great! I knew you were a team player. That’s the attitude I like to see.”
His manager continued, “To be honest, your tardiness is a bit odd. After all, you’re retired from the military. What did they say if you came in late there?”
“They said, ‘Good morning, General. Can I get you some coffee, sir?’”
