A woman once approached the great evangelist D. L. Moody to air a grievance. (Moody was an international evangelist of great renown in the 19th Century.)
The woman said to him, “Mr. Moody, I don’t like the way you do evangelism!”
“Well, ma’am, let me ask you, how do you do it?” Moody asked.
She replied, “I don’t!”
Moody responded, “Well, I like my way of doing it better than your way of not doing it!”
So many Christians shrink away from their call to evangelize the lost. The chief excuses are usually
- “I don’t know what to say.”
- “I don’t have the gift of evangelism.”
- “Isn’t that kind of work reserved for missionaries?”
- “I’m more of a teacher than an evangelist.”
The Christians who embrace these excuses and misconceptions have forgotten that God’s Word commands ALL OF US to
…do the work of an evangelist… (2 Timothy 4:5)
Let’s get to it.
