At best, God gets mixed reviews. Some love Him; some hate the very concept of Him. Richard Dawkins is an example of the latter.
In The God Delusion, the Oxford biologist writes, “The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all of fiction. Jealous and proud of it, a petty, unjust, unforgiving control freak, a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser, a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal….”
Ummm…we’ll stop there. He just gets hostile after that.
A guy by the name of John referred to God in a very different way.
“God is spirit….” (John 4:24)
“…God is love.” (1 John 4:8)
“God is light….” (1 John 1:5)
God’s reputation is best judged by looking at it through Scripture.
