You’ve heard of “drunk dialing.” You’ve heard of “cow tipping.” But have you ever heard of “drunk tipping”? If not, just know two things:
It can be embarrassing. And expensive.
Over the course of a weekend during June of 2016, a very inebriated man walked into Thailicious, a restaurant in the Denver, CO area. He ate his meal that cost approximately $60, but when the server brought him his check, the drunk man left a tip of $1,088! He then stumbled out of the restaurant.
The server was stunned. The owner was suspicious.
Sure enough, the next day – when sobriety had kicked in – the same customer came back into the restaurant as sheepish as he had been hammered the preceding night. He wanted his money back.
The restaurant’s owner, Bee Anantatho, told reporters that the man apologized for being drunk. The man explained that instead of laying down bills he thought were singles, he was throwing down Benjamins.
The restaurant gave the now-sober man his money back, but he still chose to tip the server $100.
The good news is, this time he meant to be generous.
