Hank was distraught. His wife had gone shopping the day before and hadn’t returned. The only thing he could think to do was report the situation to the sheriff’s department. When he walked into the headquarters, he was directed to Deputy Jones. “Hey, bro, my wife has gone missing. Can you help?”
Deputy Jones assured the frantic man that he and his agency would do all they could to help solve the problem. But he’d need some information to go on. Hank eagerly shook his head and promised he’d comply in any way he could.
“How tall is your wife?” asked Jones. Hank paused, rubbed his chin, and said, “I don’t reckon I know exactly. She’s between 5 and 6 feet, though.”
“Weight?” asked Jones. Hank cocked his head to the side, clearly trying to come up with a number. After a moment, he simply said, “You know, I don’t know that, either. Not slim, but not fat. Kinda in the middle, I guess.”
“Eye color?” Hank looked like a deer in the headlights. “I, I, I uh, never noticed.”
“What color hair does your wife have?” asked an incredulous Deputy Jones. “You know what, sir? It changes a couple of times a year. To be honest with you, I think it’s dark brown.”
“Well, what was she wearing when she went missing?” Hank began to scratch the back of his head, hoping to recall what she had on when she left the house. “Skirt. No, jeans! Yeah, jeans. Of course, it could have been shorts, too.”
“What vehicle did she go shopping in?” continued Jones. Hank replied instantly, “She went in my truck.”
“What kind of truck was it?” asked Jones.
“It was a brand new, white, 2016, four wheel drive, Ford F-150, King Ranch. It has the 5.7L Triton V8 engine special ordered with a manual transmission. It has a custom-made matching white tonneau cover for the bed. Dark skin leather seats with floor mats that say, “Bubba” on them. It has the tow package with a gold Reese hitch. It’s got a 7-disc DVD changer with built-in navigation, a 21-channel CB radio, six cup holders, and four power outlets. Mag wheels and off-road Michelins. Wife put a small scratch on the back bumper.” Hank was choking back tears at this point.
“Don’t worry, Hank,” said Deputy Jones. “We’ll find your truck.”
