In 2018, Donald Trump and Mike Pence were in office together and the subject of the Vice President’s faith came up on a well-known TV show called The View. After spending several moments shredding the character, reputation, and faith of Mike Pence – a man highly praised by believers from almost every sector of Christendom – the four hosts talked about a “rumor” that Pence was a man who…hang on to your hats…prays.
Insert gasp.
Here’s a partial transcript of the ladies’ conversation. (The full, vomit-inducing tirade can be found on YouTube.)
Sunny Hostin: Look, I’m a Catholic. I’m a faithful person. But I don’t know that I want my Vice President, umm, having Jesus speak to him.
Joy Behar: Like I said before, it’s one thing to talk to Jesus. It’s another thing when Jesus talks to you.
(The crowd erupts in laughter and applause.)
Sunny Hostin: Exactly! That’s different!
Joy Behar: That’s called mental illness if I’m not correct.
Behar meant to say, “…if I’m not mistaken.” And mistaken, she was.
Of course Jesus speaks! Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John’s Gospels record numerous back-and-forth conversations with His disciples, the crowds, and even His enemies. Furthermore, Jesus instructed His disciples to pray, and to pray in His name according to His will, if they wanted an answer.
Joy Behar thinks it’s a problem when people hear Jesus but nothing could be farther from the truth! The people with the problem are those who don’t hear Jesus.
