Everyone thought the wedding was wonderful. The groom came from a modest background, but had stolen the heart of a beautiful young girl who belonged to a Midwest oil baron. It was a marvelous love story in the making.
When the young couple got back from the honeymoon, the bride immediately called her mother. The elder wife asked the younger, “How was the honeymoon, Lora?”
“Oh, mama,” she replied, “the honeymoon was wonderful! So romantic, so breathtaking, but….” Suddenly the girl burst into tears.
After she regained her composure, she continued, “But, mama, as soon as we returned, Dylan started using the most horrible language. Words I’d never even heard before! Awful 4-letter words! You’ve got to come get me and take me home, mama!”
“Lora, Lora,” her mother said. “Calm down! Tell me, what could he say that was so awful?”
“Please don’t make me say them, mama,” wept the daughter. “I’m so embarrassed; they’re just too awful to repeat! Come get me, please!”
“Darling, baby. Tell me, what has you so upset? What did he say?”
Still sobbing, the bride said, “Oh, mama…he said words like: wash, iron, cook, and…”
“I’ll pick you up in ten minutes,” said the mama.
