Everybody’s been told that Santa is making a list, that he is checking it twice, and that he’s going to find out who’s naughty or nice. But if the truth be told, no one really cares.
That’s because recent studies show that being on the “naughty list” doesn’t actually lower the number of presents kids get, after all.
On the Monday after 2012’s Black Friday, USA Today reported on Wal-Mart’s study of parents, kids, and the naughty list. The retail giant discovered that almost 80% of parents admitted that their kids would get the same number of toys for Christmas, even if they were on Santa’s naughty list.
Ever since 1934, when Santa Clause is Comin’ to Town was first recorded, the big guy in the red suit has lorded kids’ year-long behavior over them during the holiday season: keep off the naughty list or he’ll keep your toys. Now it appears as though Santa’s warning is worthless.
Ummm…I wonder what message this will send to kids.
