Pop Quiz!
- When did Abraham Lincoln die?
- What time did the terrorist attacks of 9-11 begin?
- When did Neil Armstrong walk on the moon?
- On which day of the week were you born?
For the record, Lincoln died on April 15, 1865, though he was shot the night before. The nightmarish attacks of September 11th commenced at 8:46am when Flight 11 slammed into World Trade Center 1. And Neil Armstrong left the first footprint on the moon on July 20, 1969.
As for the day of the week you were born…you’ll just have to look it up.
You’d probably have to be a bit of a history buff to get the answers to those questions correct. But the reality is, even if you didn’t know the exact dates and times of those events, you don’t dispute the validity of those events.
But, for some reason, that same logic doesn’t apply to God’s creation of the Universe.
Recently, there’s been a tremendous amount of debate about when God created the Universe. Some have argued that He did it a mere 6,000 years ago. Some have argued that He did it millions (or billions) of years ago. Some have admitted they have no idea when He did it.
The questions surrounding “when” have caused many to wonder “if.” The thinking goes, “If we can’t prove when He did it, maybe He didn’t do it at all.” Nobody knows when He did it…but that shouldn’t cast doubt on the fact that He did it!
The opening line of God’s Word claims that God created the Heavens and the Earth. When He did it isn’t as important as that He did it!
